Pioneers and their migration to the west is an essential element in the connection of America’s former citizens to its current citizens. Much of what students investigate today in geography was explored and developed by the early pioneers. Students will begin to understand how Native Americans played a role in wars, customs and how the Indian Removal Act forced them from their homelands. Students will learn how pioneers lived, their travel arrangements and the routes taken to meet their final destinations.
